Marius Oelofse, a former missionary, identified the need for a place for the elderly in his area.

Many people are not able to support themselves in retirement, and most of those don’t have families to assist them.

Marius founded the ‘Have a Heart Care Centre’ for the elderly in Roodepoort just over 2 ½ years ago to provide a safe and secure place for the elderly to live. He currently has 31 residents between the age of 60 to 81 at the centre.

The NPO is run from an old three storey building in the CBD which Marius rents for R12 000 per month. However, due to the age of the building and lack of maintenance, there are currently 67 windows that are broken. This really affects the health and comfort of the elderly in the cold winter months and when it rains.

Hot Cares is going to assist by fixing the windows to the value of R20 000 to shield the elderly from the cold and rain.
