While the Coronavirus outbreak poses health risks for everyone, officials have made it clear that the elderly are particularly vulnerable. Recently, Hot Cares assisted members of the Diepsloot community with vegetables such as potatoes, onions as well as non-perishable food and goods. Several community members rely on their families to provide for them and we wanted to assist wherever possible. Hot Cares believes it is extremely important to keep these communities as safe as possible during this uncertain time.

Hot Cares also received a desperate plea from Christine, a Hot 91.9 FM listener, for assistance. She requested that Tina, an elderly lady living on her own in Blackheath, be assisted with foodstuffs for the lockdown period. Unfortunately, Tina has no family or income and Christine helps when and where she can. Hot Cares managed to get a grocery voucher to Christine who was able to buy groceries and other necessities for Tina before lockdown. Christine gave us the following feedback, “Thank you to Hot 91.9 FM for the voucher for dear Tina. She was overwhelmed by it all, those groceries will help her very much”.

Hot Cares would like to thank Christine and all the other wonderful people who have gone out of their way to make sure the elderly and people in need are taken care of. Over the past few weeks, we have seen so much solidarity and care for others.
