BROMHOF – Jess Crewe-Brown celebrates her milestone with Hot91.9fm, close friends and family.
Jess Crewe-Brown’s secret to a long life is to maintain a balanced diet and exercise regularly. The lovely Randburg resident celebrated her 106th birthday on 19 May at the Village of Golden Harvest in Bromhof, surrounded by her family, friends and hosts from Hot 91.9 FM community radio station. The radio station decided to celebrate the memorable birthday with tea, cakes and balloons after they heard about the story and decided to get involved.
Jess told, Gladys Sithole, the Hot 91.9 FM head of news in a prior interview when she spoke about her best memories, Facebook and regrets. She remembered her wedding day as the best day of her life. She jokingly said the dress was hers; nothing was borrowed and the weather was terrible.
When asked about Facebook she replied that she knows that Facebook is for young people who don’t have time for real conversations – they just say hello and bye. She said people like her, who do not have Facebook, have the need to be acknowledged and wanted real conversations.
“Her friends are very fond of her. She is a member of the church and has been involved in numerous community projects and charity work,” she said.
Heather acknowledged that her mother’s health is gradually deteriorating. “She is an inspirational person – a very wonderful, lady. It has been difficult, particularly during the last year; she now needs more sleep and her mobility is decreasing.”
