Restoring Joy: How Hot Cares is Supporting Wendy’s Journey to Healing

At Hot Cares, we are privileged to be part of the community, helping those in need and bringing hope to families facing challenging times. Recently, we were touched by the heartfelt story of Wendy, a dedicated wife and mother whose battle with carpal tunnel syndrome has profoundly affected her life and her family’s well-being. With the help of her husband, Basil, we are stepping in to support Wendy on her path to recovery.

For over 15 years, Wendy has struggled with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), a condition that causes painful, numbing sensations in the hands and wrists due to median nerve compression. For the past three years, the severity of her symptoms has escalated, affecting her emotionally and mentally. 

Despite the pain, Wendy has been a constant source of love and support for her four children and husband, often insisting on managing her daily tasks independently, even when it becomes a struggle. 

Wendy’s creativity and passion for crafting, gardening, and cooking have brought joy to her family. However, as her condition has worsened, she has had to give up the activities that once defined her. Watching Wendy fight this battle has been heartbreaking for Basil and their children, who wish they could alleviate her pain but respect her desire for independence. 

After consulting with an orthopedic surgeon, Wendy learned that she needs surgery to repair her carpal tunnel, with an estimated cost of R21,600. Unfortunately, the family does not have medical aid, and saving for the procedure has proven to be a challenge. 

At Hot Cares, we believe in the power of community and compassion. We understand the toll that chronic pain can take on a person’s spirit and the impact it can have on their loved ones. We are committed to helping Wendy regain her independence and joy by covering the full cost of her surgery, totaling R30,000.
