A Christmas wish for Demi and her father

At Hot Cares, we understand that the holiday season can bring both joy and challenges, especially for families facing difficult circumstances. This year, we were moved by the nomination from Brenda, who shared the heart-wrenching story of her daughters, Demi and her father, who is grappling with serious health issues.  

Demi’s father has been battling diabetes since he was just four years old. Over the years, this chronic illness has led to significant complications, including the loss of vision in his right eye and diminished sight in his left. Recently, his health took a turn for the worse, as he began kidney dialysis due to severe kidney failure. His situation is further complicated by the fact that he requires dental work—specifically a full set of dentures—to be considered for a kidney transplant. Without teeth, he is at risk of infections, which can jeopardize his chances of receiving a donor kidney. 

Demi, at just 22, has stepped up in remarkable ways to support her father through his health crises, driving him to dialysis appointments and providing emotional and physical care. Brenda expressed her desire for Demi and her sister to enjoy a stress-free Christmas, free from worries about their father’s health and future. 

In response to this touching story, Hot Cares is committed to making a difference. We will cover the costs of dental care for Demi’s father, totaling R30,000. This support will not only help improve his quality of life but also enhance his chances of receiving the kidney transplant he desperately needs. 

Furthermore, we will assist in arranging a prosthetic eye for him when he is ready, ensuring that he feels confident and whole again. Our hope is to bring some joy and relief to Demi and her family during this challenging time, allowing them to celebrate Christmas together with love and hope for a brighter future.
