Empowering Keith’s remarkable journey of recovery

At Hot Cares, we are continually inspired by stories of resilience and determination, and Keith Mlotshwa’s journey is one that truly embodies the human spirit. After a senseless act of violence left him with a traumatic spinal cord injury, Keith’s life changed forever. The incident not only affected his mobility, leaving him an incomplete paraplegic, but it also took away his ability to work, creating immense financial and emotional strain for him and his family. Despite the challenges, Keith has shown incredible determination.

With limited resources and gaps in public healthcare, he has relied on the pro bono support of his physiotherapist, Sharmila Dahya, and his unwavering dedication to recovery. Following a rigorous home exercise program, Keith has achieved remarkable progress, now able to walk with crutches and even unassisted for short distances.

However, Keith’s journey is far from over. Continued neuro-physiotherapy and mobility support are critical for him to regain independence and improve his quality of life. Financial constraints have made accessing this essential care nearly impossible, leaving Keith and his family in a difficult position.

That’s why Hot Cares is stepping in. We are thrilled to provide Keith with six months of neuro-physiotherapy, along with transport to and from his appointments. To further support his family, we will also cover their groceries for the next six months, ensuring they can celebrate Christmas and start the new year with some relief and joy.

Valued at R100,000, this assistance will help Keith continue his journey of recovery and provide hope and stability for his family. Keith’s perseverance is an inspiration, and we are honoured to be part of his story, helping him rewrite his future with independence, dignity, and renewed strength.
