Hot Cares steps in to support paralyzed student Andrea Lawrence's educational journey
In a heartwarming gesture of support and empowerment, Hot Cares is stepping in to assist Andrea Lawrence, a vibrant and brave young lady who was left paralyzed after being hit by a stray bullet. Despite facing numerous challenges, Andrea has shown remarkable resilience and a determination to pursue her dreams, particularly her ambition to complete her studies in Early Childhood Development (ECD) and obtain a BEd degree.
Andrea’s journey took a tragic turn when she was struck by a stray bullet, leading to her paralysis and subsequent abandonment by her college due to its non-wheelchair friendly environment. However, this setback did not deter her. She continued to show up and pursue her goals with unwavering determination, even participating in the Midmar Dam swimming race, a testament to her perseverance and zest for life.
Recognizing Andrea’s incredible resilience and her desire to be self-sufficient, Hot Cares is committed to supporting her educational journey. The organisation will cover the costs for Andrea to re-register for her N5, including tuition and study materials. Additionally, once she successfully completes her N5, Hot Cares will support her registration for the N6 level, along with the associated tuition and study materials, totaling a value of R34,000.
This support from Hot Cares is not just about financial assistance; it’s about empowering Andrea to achieve her dreams and become an educator, proving that disability is not a barrier to success. Through this initiative, Hot Cares aims to highlight the importance of supporting individuals who face adversity with courage and determination, ensuring that they have the opportunity to fulfil their potential and contribute to society.
