Restoring Kgontse’s hearing and hope

This Hot Cares Christmas, we’re thrilled to support Kgontse Sebetlela, a 20-year-old young man whose resilience, kindness, and determination have touched the hearts of many in his community.

Kgontse’s life took a difficult turn when he lost his mother at the age of 11, leaving him both grieving and alone. Shortly after, he began losing his hearing, a devastating blow that further complicated his journey. Despite these challenges, Kgontse remained a beacon of hope, volunteering full-time at an NGO and serving his church every Sunday.

Living with his two loving sisters, Kgontse’s family has shown remarkable strength and unity. However, financial constraints have made it impossible for them to afford the hearing aids he desperately needs or to seek treatment for recurring ear infections. Without hearing aids, Kgontse faces barriers that limit his ability to engage fully with his community, explore career opportunities, and expand his volunteer efforts.

Hot Cares is stepping in to change that. We’re covering the R20,000 cost for Kgontse’s hearing aids and providing funds for an ENT consultation to address his recurring ear infections. This support will restore Kgontse’s ability to hear, opening doors to new opportunities and allowing him to connect with the world in ways that were once out of reach.

Kgontse’s story is one of perseverance and selflessness. By providing this vital support, we’re not just restoring a sense— we’re restoring confidence, hope, and the ability for Kgontse to continue being a positive force in his community.

This Christmas, we’re proud to stand with Kgontse and his family, ensuring they can celebrate the festive season with renewed hope and joy for the future. Together, we’re making a meaningful difference, one life at a time.
