Supporting Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital’s lifesaving mission
This Hot Cares Christmas, we’re proud to support the Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital (JWVH), a dedicated facility committed to the treatment and rehabilitation of South Africa’s indigenous wildlife.
JWVH stands as the only veterinary hospital in Johannesburg that exclusively focuses on wildlife. From pangolins to birds and beyond, the hospital addresses the unique medical needs of some of South Africa’s most vulnerable species. Their work goes beyond medical care, extending to law enforcement support, wildlife crime court cases, and the rehabilitation and release of animals back into the wild.
Running such a specialized facility comes with immense challenges, including high operational costs, specialized food and housing needs, and the constant demand for hygiene maintenance to prevent cross-contamination. One significant daily challenge has been the need for an industrial-sized washing machine to handle the large volume of bedding, towels, and other textiles used in the hospital.
Hot Cares is stepping in to meet this need. We’re funding the purchase of an industrial washing machine valued at R22,000, a crucial piece of equipment that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the hospital’s operations. With this machine, the JWVH team can maintain the strict hygiene standards required for wildlife care, ensuring a safe and sterile environment for both animals and caregivers.
This contribution is more than just a piece of equipment—it’s a testament to our commitment to supporting organizations like JWVH that dedicate themselves to making a tangible difference in our natural world.
This Christmas, we’re proud to play a part in strengthening the incredible work of the JWVH, ensuring they can continue their lifesaving mission for South Africa’s wildlife. Together, we’re building a future where compassion and care for nature thrive.
