Supporting Stefanie’s road to recovery

This Hot Cares Christmas, we are honored to assist Stefanie Klomann, a brave young woman whose resilience in the face of immense challenges is an inspiration to all.

In 2021, Stefanie underwent a life-saving brain tumor operation, which led to eight weeks in ICU and 12 weeks in rehabilitation. She had to relearn basic skills, including speaking and using her hands. Today, Stefanie is in a wheelchair and continues her recovery with immense courage, but she still faces significant hurdles in her journey back to independence.

Before her health challenges, Stefanie was a passionate nursery school teacher at the Deutsche Schule Johannesburg. Her love for teaching and nurturing children was evident to everyone around her. Now, she dreams of regaining enough strength to return to work, contribute to her family, and lead a fulfilling life.

Stefanie currently attends therapy three times a week, with hydrotherapy playing a crucial role in her progress. Unfortunately, the financial strain on her family, who fund her care out of pocket, has made it difficult to sustain the therapy sessions she needs to continue improving.

Hot Cares is stepping in to ensure Stefanie’s recovery remains on track. We are covering the costs of her hydrotherapy sessions for the next six months, valued at R30,000. This support will provide her with the tools to enhance her mobility, coordination, and speech, bringing her closer to her goal of walking again and achieving greater independence.

Stefanie’s story is a powerful reminder of the strength found in community and the importance of supporting one another through life’s challenges. This Christmas, we are proud to be part of Stefanie’s journey and to help her and her family find hope and relief during this festive season.
