Hot Cares Steps in to Help Shyhim Resume Life-Changing Therapy
Shyhim Jimmy is a remarkable 17-year-old who has faced significant challenges from the moment he was born prematurely at just 1 kg. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy spastic quadriplegia, Shyhim has been wheelchair-bound for most of his life, requiring extensive physiotherapy and care to manage his condition. Despite these challenges, he has grown into a loving, cheerful young man who brightens the lives of those around him with his infectious positivity and concern for others.
Since his diagnosis, Shyhim has undergone multiple surgeries and treatments to manage muscle tone and spasticity. Physiotherapy has been a vital part of his care, helping him maintain mobility and prevent further physical decline. However, due to financial difficulties, the Jimmy family has accumulated significant debt to Shyhim’s physiotherapist, and his therapy has been suspended, leading to a noticeable regression in his condition.
Shyhim’s family, particularly his father Shakil, has been doing everything they can to provide for him. After Shakil lost his long-term job, the family’s income was halved, making it impossible to keep up with medical costs. Despite their best efforts, they now face an outstanding debt of R26,000 to Shyhim’s physiotherapist, and their medical aid savings are depleted halfway through each year.
At Hot Cares, we were deeply moved by Shyhim’s story and his family’s perseverance. His love for people, technology, and gaming, combined with his determination to live a full life despite his condition, inspired us to take action.
Hot Cares, in partnership with One Insurance, will cover the full outstanding debt of R26,000 to Shyhim’s physiotherapist. This donation will allow Shyhim to resume his essential therapy, helping him regain strength and mobility, and ultimately improving his quality of life. We are honoured to be part of Shyhim’s journey, ensuring he has the support he needs to continue thriving and spreading his boundless joy to those around him.
