Bringing Mobility and Independence to West Rand School Students
At Hot Cares, we believe in the power of community and compassion. When we heard about Palesa, a student at West Rand School for children with disabilities, we knew we had to help. Through the ‘Plakkies for Palesa’ initiative, generous individuals and organizations raised funds for her much-needed wheelchair. However, we soon discovered that two more students, Amogelang and Thembalethu, also required specialized mobility aids.
Both boys face severe conditions—CP Dyskinesia and CP Spastic Quadriplegia—which greatly impact their ability to move and participate in daily activities. Without the right mobility aids, their independence and comfort were severely restricted.
West Rand School is a beacon of hope for children with disabilities, offering education, emotional, and social support. Teacher Minette, alongside the school’s Occupational Therapist, works tirelessly to ensure that each child receives the care they need.
Understanding the urgency of this need, Hot Cares, in collaboration with Silverstar, is stepping in to make a difference. We are thrilled to cover the full cost of specialized wheelchairs for both boys—an investment of over R80,000. These wheelchairs are more than mobility aids; they are tools for independence and dignity.
With their new, custom-designed wheelchairs, Amogelang and Thembalethu will move with greater ease, participate in school activities, and engage with their peers more freely.
At Hot Cares, we are honoured to support their journey and West Rand School’s unwavering commitment to its students. This is the power of community—ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive.
Thank you to Silverstar and everyone who supports Hot Cares. Together, we are making a real difference, one life at a time.
