Breaking barriers with digital skills for a brighter tomorrow

At Hot Cares, we believe in the power of education and skills development to uplift communities and change lives. That’s why, when we heard about the incredible work being done by the Johannesburg Dream Centre, we knew we had to help.

Since 2014, this dedicated non-profit organization has been making a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and families in underserved communities like Kya Sands and Cosmo City. Through sustainable solutions such as skills training, early childhood development, and job readiness programs, they are empowering people to break free from poverty and build a brighter future.

One of their most impactful initiatives is their computer literacy course, which runs three times a week over a three-week period, covering essential digital skills. However, with a growing demand for these workshops, a major challenge has emerged – a shortage of laptops. Currently, participants are forced to share devices, limiting their ability to fully engage in the training and slowing down the learning process.

Understanding the critical role that technology plays in today’s world, Hot Cares reached out to our friends at Silverstar, who immediately stepped in to assist. Together, we are thrilled to be donating six much-needed laptops to the Johannesburg Dream Centre!

This donation will ensure that more learners receive hands-on experience, equipping them with the digital skills necessary to access job opportunities and further education. In addition to workshops, these laptops will serve as a valuable resource for job seekers preparing CVs and students needing access to research for school projects.

By investing in education, we are helping to break the cycle of poverty and create opportunities for a stronger, self-sufficient community.

Thank you, Silverstar, for joining us in making a difference!
