Extending a helping hand to Berario Bunnies

Over the past few months, Gauteng has experienced relentless rainfall, and while residents have battled flooding and damage, there is another silent struggle unfolding—one affecting the vulnerable bunnies that have been cruelly dumped by their owners and left to fend for themselves. These rabbits, bred for domestic care, are not equipped to survive the harsh conditions of the wild. The ongoing rain has made their survival even more precarious.

Berario Bunnies, founded by the compassionate Meahni Pieterse, is on a mission to rescue these helpless animals, provide medical care, and ensure they are sterilized to prevent further overpopulation. Their work is tireless, but the financial burden is overwhelming. Recent rescues have highlighted the urgent need for support—one bunny required a leg amputation, while another needed extensive grooming and medical treatment after being found matted and sick.

Hearing their story, Hot Cares knew we had to step in. We are proud to announce a donation of R20,000 to Berario Bunnies. This contribution will cover the costs of sterilizing rescued rabbits and providing urgent medical treatment. Our hope is that this support will offer some relief to Meahni and her team, enabling them to continue their vital work.

Every small act of kindness can create a ripple effect of change. Together, we can help Berario Bunnies give these gentle creatures the second chance they deserve. If you would like to contribute or learn more about their work, visit Berario Bunnies online. Let’s stand together for those who cannot speak for themselves.
