Hot Cares and One Insurance restore Lemard’s vision, empowering his future

At Hot Cares, we’re dedicated to uplifting the community by stepping in when people need it most, especially when they are facing personal challenges with resilience. Recently, we were honored to help Lemard, a young man struggling with severe vision impairment. Without his rigid contact lenses, Lemard is essentially blind, but the cost of upgrading them—R16,200—was far beyond what his family could manage.

His mother, Zaydene, reached out to us, sharing their difficult journey. Raising three children while recovering from the financial strain of his father’s job loss during the pandemic made it impossible to cover the cost of Lemard’s lenses. His vision issues have forced him to leave school, halting his dreams of pursuing technical engineering and limiting his independence.

With the help of our generous partners at One Insurance, Hot Cares contributed R12,000 towards the cost of Lemard’s lenses, helping him reclaim his vision and regain his confidence. This support not only allows Lemard to complete his education, but also to learn to drive, increasing his independence and opening new opportunities.
