Hot Cares and One Insurance step up to help single mother in need

Debbie, a 45-year-old single mother, has been enduring severe pain for months. Initially suffering from a chronic cough and discomfort, a chest X-ray recently revealed a lump on the right side of her chest, outside of her lung. Her doctor suspects it could be cancerous, but without a proper diagnosis through a CT scan, further treatment is on hold.

Unfortunately, Debbie doesn’t have medical aid, and the cost of a private CT scan is beyond her reach. With the local provincial hospital unable to assist her for at least a year, Debbie is stuck in limbo, battling constant pain while managing her work and caring for her daughter, who is in Grade 10.

Susan, Debbie’s sister, reached out to Hot Cares for help. Understanding the urgency of Debbie’s situation, Hot Cares, with the support of One Insurance, will cover the cost of the CT scan, up to R12,000. This essential scan will allow Debbie to return to the public hospital for diagnosis and treatment, giving her a chance to address the pain and uncertainty surrounding her condition.

By stepping in, Hot Cares and One Insurance are offering more than financial relief—they are giving Debbie hope and the opportunity to focus on her health and her family.
