It started with 19 residents and now has nearly a hundred across two frail care centres and an old age facility. The people at Wings of Inspiration really go out of their way to try and help as many elderly people as possible and Hot Cares has worked with them before, witnessing them taking in pensioners who have nowhere to go.
Wings of Inspiration provides the elderly in need not just with a place to stay, but with a home and sense of belonging and family, and this came through when one of the twins, Anthea, joined the HOT 1027 Breakfast team and Deon Basson from Silverstar on air, to tell them a bit more about their facility.
She explained how their residents rely on a SASSA pension and are provided with a safe and secure environment, with a portion of that pension going to the upkeep of the facility.
As Anthea said, the goal is to ensure these residents spend their twilight years in as much love and comfort as possible.
Wings of Inspiration relies on donations for its funding, but also runs a craft workshop for residents, which serves the dual purpose of giving them stimulating creative activities, whilst producing craft products that can be sold to generate income for the facility.
What Wings of Inspiration does with its residents resonated with everyone at Hot Cares and Silverstar, with Deon explaining that he and his team were deeply touched when they heard about the loving home and caring environment that had been provided for the residents of Wings of Inspiration. Family, caring for those in need, making memories, and sharing experiences are so important to Silverstar and they want to do their part to ensure that Wings of Inspiration can continue to bring joy, love, and continued experiences for their beloved residents.
With that in mind, Silverstar will be donating R20 000 to Wings of Inspiration Elderly Care Centre!
