Hot Cares and Silverstar Step Up for Georgina and Her Foster Children

At Hot Cares, we believe in lending a hand to those who selflessly dedicate their lives to others. That’s why when we heard about Georgina Caetano’s unwavering commitment to fostering vulnerable children, we knew we had to step in.

Since 2015, Georgina has been a registered foster parent and temporary safe care provider with the Department of Social Development. Over the years, she has opened her home and heart to nine children, ranging from toddlers to teenagers, ensuring they have a loving and stable environment to grow. Despite the challenges of limited financial support, she has made countless sacrifices to provide for them, selling handmade jewellery to make ends meet.

But at the end of 2024, Georgina faced an unimaginable challenge—she was hospitalized with a life-threatening case of septicaemia. Unbeknownst to her, her medical insurance only covered accidents, not medical emergencies, leaving her with a staggering hospital bill. Though she managed to secure a loan to cover part of the expenses, she was soon faced with an additional R20,165.47 in outstanding medical costs. As she continues to recover physically and emotionally, the financial burden remains overwhelming.

That’s where Hot Cares, in partnership with Silverstar, steps in. In recognition of her tireless dedication and the invaluable role she plays in these children’s lives, Silverstar is covering Georgina’s outstanding medical fees in full. But we didn’t stop there. To give Georgina and her foster children a well-deserved break, we are treating them to a special dinner and show at Silverstar, allowing them to create joyful memories together.

Georgina has spent nearly a decade saying yes to children in need. Now, it’s our turn to say yes to her.
