Hot Cares stands with Karlien’s family in their journey of hope and resilience

At Hot Cares, we’re honored to support Karlien and her family as they navigate the challenges of life after a traumatic brain injury. Six years ago, Karlien’s life changed unexpectedly, and since then, she’s needed 24/7 care, including a full-time nurse and a ventilator to assist her breathing. Despite predictions, Karlien has continued to surprise and inspire her family with her resilience, especially through progress in speech therapy.

The financial demands of her care are immense. Beyond regular nursing costs, maintaining her ventilator—a vital lifeline—is crucial, but the family lacks the funds for recent necessary repairs. For Karlien’s parents, every day is focused on creating a stable and supportive environment for her and her younger sister, Nadine, as they manage these significant costs.

Our involvement with Karlien’s story goes beyond simply covering costs; it’s about supporting a family’s dedication to helping their child live the best life possible. In addition, we’re giving Nadine, her six-year-old sister, a small surprise with a voucher to refresh her own space, allowing her a little room to create memories and express herself.
