Hot Cares steps in to support brave 12-year-old Caelam’s recovery

At Hot Cares, we believe in standing by those who need it most. This time, our hearts have been deeply moved by the story of 12-year-old Caelam, a young warrior who has battled more challenges than most of us could ever imagine.

Born with severe hearing loss, clubfeet, and low muscle tone, Caelam has faced adversity from the start. At just 18 months old, he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, followed by hyperthyroidism, petit mal epilepsy, muscle neuropathy, and severe scoliosis. Despite being non-verbal and having a short bone structure, his resilience and fighting spirit have inspired everyone around him.

Now, he faces his biggest challenge yet—a high-risk scoliosis surgery scheduled for February 4th. This operation is crucial for his comfort and quality of life, as his worsening spinal curvature could lead to severe pain, restricted mobility, and breathing difficulties. While medical aid covers part of the cost, the family urgently needs financial support for the post-surgery recovery process, including specialized equipment and intensive physiotherapy.

When we heard Caelam’s story, we knew we had to act. His unwavering spirit, coupled with the incredible love and dedication of his parents, Lize and Kobus, reminded us why we do what we do. That’s why Hot Cares and HOT 102.7FM are stepping in to cover the full R50,000 needed for his post-operative care.

Lize and Kobus, you are not alone. We are with you every step of the way, ensuring Caelam gets the best possible chance at recovery. To Caelam—your fight is our fight, and we cannot wait to see you thrive!
