Hot Cares steps in to support Helena’s road to recovery

At Hot Cares, we believe in standing by individuals and families during their most challenging times, and Helena’s story truly touched our hearts. On September 3rd, 2024, Helena’s life changed forever when she was involved in a serious car accident that left her with a T12 spinal cord injury. As a result, Helena lost the use of her legs and now faces a long and difficult journey toward recovery.

Helena is a devoted wife and mother to two young children, one just 6 months old and the other 3 years old. The accident has not only affected her physically but has also introduced significant emotional and financial challenges for her family. Without medical aid, Helena and her loved ones are burdened with the high costs of her ongoing rehabilitation, physiotherapy, and the need for specialized equipment, including an electric wheelchair.

Despite these challenges, Helena’s spirit remains unbroken. She is determined to regain her independence, continue playing an active role in her children’s lives, and adjust to her new reality with strength and resilience.

At Hot Cares, we are inspired by Helena’s courage, and we knew we had to step in to support her on this difficult journey. To help ease the financial strain on Helena and her family, Hot Cares is proud to contribute R10,000 towards her additional physiotherapy sessions, which will aid in her recovery and help her rebuild her strength.

Additionally, thanks to the generosity of our partners at Eco Med, we are thrilled to provide Helena with an electric wheelchair worth up to R75,000. This wheelchair will give her the mobility and independence she needs to take care of her children and daily tasks at home.

We know Helena’s journey is far from over, but with her determination and the support of her community, we believe she can face the future with hope.
