HOT Cares Helps Small Business Owner Take Her Offering to the Next Level
Hot Cares has immense respect for those who take it upon themselves to change their circumstances for the better and throw in the hard work to back it up.
That’s certainly the case with Thuli, who found herself out of work as a domestic worker and battling to find employment.
Not content to sit back and bemoan her situation, Thuli turned to her cooking skills as an income source.
She set up her own cooking business, making basic meals – such as pap and chicken – in her community, and it’s taken off, giving Thuli that income source she was looking for.
In fact, her reasonably-priced meals have become quite popular and Thuli has tried to keep up and expand her services with the little she has available.
It’s clear that Thuli is not only entrepreneurial, but also takes great pride in the service and food she offers. Her business is an important source of income for her family to support and provide for them.
But, she does have challenges.
They include the resources to grow her business and increase that income source, as well as secure what she currently has and to protect what she’s put lots of effort into.
Included in that is growing her stock and bolstering the overall offering of her small cooking business, such as making it more inviting for customers and broadening the offering.

That means her modest stock room can easily be broken into, leaving Thuli with the situation where she has to take her stock home with her each evening and bring it back with her in the morning.
Thuli put all of this to The Big Joburg Drive team, who called her up on air, to get a sense of her situation to see if Hot Cares could help.
There’s absolutely no doubt we can and that’s why Hot Cares will be stumping up for a new door to lock up her stock so that it is not stolen. On top of that, Hot Cares will be providing some tables and chairs for Thuli’s customers to sit on and enjoy their meals.
Further to that, Hot Cares will also be providing a gazebo to protect Thuli’s patrons from the outside elements and all will be able to be safely packed and locked away at the end of each day.
Lastly, Hot Cares will be strengthening Thuli’s business by having new signage made for it, meaning she’ll be able to create more awareness and attract more customers, whilst Hot Cares will also be purchasing Thuli some new stock items and lockable cupboards.
We hope these elements go some way to bolstering Thuli’s business and give her the opportunity to grow it, so she can grow her income and further support her family.
