From hardship to hope — Hot Cares is helping David build the future he deserves

Just months ago, David’s world looked very different.

At only 18 years old, this matric learner was trying to navigate one of the most important years of his life while carrying the unimaginable weight of housing instability, trauma, and uncertainty. After his family was evicted late last year, David found himself without a safe place to call home — a situation no young person should ever have to face.

But thanks to the compassion of Sally and her family, David was given something life-changing: stability.

A warm bed. Daily meals. A home environment where he could finally focus on being what he is meant to be — a young man with promise.

“If you can help somebody, you go out of your way to help them” says Sally.

The difference has already been extraordinary.

Since moving into a safe and supportive home environment, David’s school marks have improved from failing to passing. More than that, his confidence has returned. The laughter, humility and kindness that his friends have always known him for are once again shining through.

“His academics have improved dramatically and he is passionate about rugby and recently returned to sport.”

Now, Hot Cares is stepping in to make sure that progress continues.

We are covering David’s textbooks, stationery, school uniform, sports kit and all the essentials he needs for the year ahead. We’re also making sure he can attend his matric farewell with dignity — a milestone every learner deserves to experience.
