Hot Cares helps Thembeka take the next step towards her dream of becoming a nurse

For 24-year-old Thembeka Diane, nursing has never just been a career choice – it’s a calling.

Her dream has always been to care for others, support vulnerable communities, and become the kind of compassionate healthcare professional who makes a real difference in people’s lives.

Thembeka was well on her way to achieving that dream at Ukwazi School of Nursing, but her journey came to an unexpected halt when financial challenges prevented her from continuing her studies.

After her mother, who had been supporting her education, lost her job in 2025, Thembeka’s family faced severe financial pressure. Living with her mother, grandmother, and two siblings, she found herself unable to cover the outstanding fees needed to progress with her qualification.

Despite the setback, Thembeka never gave up.

Her academic results show the commitment she has poured into her studies, achieving strong marks across demanding subjects including Nursing Dynamics, Pharmacology, General Nursing Science, Bio-medical Sciences, Community & Reproductive Health, and Psychology.

For Hot Cares, Thembeka’s story is about more than helping one student – it’s about investing in a future where her skills, compassion, and determination will go on to benefit many others.

Living on a single salary, the couple faced impossible choices. Some weeks, they simply could not afford the full number of treatments Ricardo desperately needed.

Hot Cares will be covering the cost of Thembeka’s outstanding fees, up to R90 000, allowing her to continue working towards completing her nursing qualification.
