HOT Cares helps Paws R Us find 20 dogs their forever homes

For some of the dogs at Paws R Us, a forever home has been a long time coming.

Now, as the animal shelter prepares to move premises at the end of September, HOT Cares is helping put the spotlight on at least 20 rescue dogs desperately hoping to make that move into a home of their own.

Paws R Us founder Chantel says the organisation currently has around 65 dogs in its care, including senior animals, medium and large breeds, and several long-stay residents.

“We have beautiful souls that also deserve some airtime.”

Some of the dogs need to be the only pet in a household, while others are seniors who are often overlooked despite having plenty of love left to give.

“There’s nothing quite like a senior dog. We always say that they are magic.”

Rather than making a once-off financial contribution, HOT Cares will use the reach of HOT 102.7FM and its social media platforms to introduce listeners to the dogs and help Paws R Us find responsible, loving adopters.

Every potential adopter will go through Paws R Us’ usual process, including a meet-and-greet, application and home check, helping ensure each animal is matched with the right environment. The R900 adoption fee contributes towards sterilisation, vaccinations and microchipping.

And HOT Cares’ support doesn’t end with the adoption drive. After hearing that the shelter also needs additional storage at its new premises, the team committed to helping Paws R Us secure a Wendy house for blankets, beds and food.
