For 15 years, the Heidelberg Volunteer Medics and First Responders have been the calm in the chaos.

They are the people who arrive when lives hang in the balance — on dark roads after devastating crashes, in homes where strokes and seizures strike without warning, and at scenes where families need reassurance as much as medical care.

This team of 15 dedicated volunteers gives their time, their skills, and often their own resources to serve the Heidelberg community. They do it not because they have to, but because they choose to. And in 2026 alone, they have already responded to more than 25 serious incidents, from major vehicle collisions to critical trauma scenes and medical emergencies.

They are often first on scene.

They are often the difference between panic and calm.

And they do it all while operating as a fully self-funded emergency response team.

But the reality is that the very uniforms that identify and protect them in dangerous environments are no longer adequate. In high-pressure, chaotic situations, clear identification is not cosmetic — it is critical. It keeps responders safe, reduces confusion, and helps patients and families instantly know that help has arrived.

That is why Hot Cares is stepping in.

With the team having already raised an incredible portion of the funds needed, Hot Cares will cover the outstanding balance to ensure these lifesaving volunteers receive 15 new uniforms, along with fully stocked BLS bags and essential consumables.
