Helping aspiring teacher Lara achieve her dream
At Hot Cares, we believe in supporting those who dedicate their lives to making a difference, especially in education. Today, we’re excited to share the inspiring story of Lara, a passionate final-year Bachelor of Education (Foundation Phase Teaching) student at UNISA, who has been making a significant impact as a student teacher at Laerskool Oosterkruin in Germiston.
Lara has spent the last two years nurturing young minds, building strong connections with her students through her dedication and compassion. However, financial hardships threatened to derail her dream of becoming a qualified teacher. Lara’s family faced severe challenges after her father lost his job during the COVID-19 pandemic. Though employed again, his income is half of what it once was. Despite their best efforts and taking out loans, they struggled to cover Lara’s R29,000 tuition fees for 2025, along with an outstanding R14,000 loan for previous fees.
Lara’s academic achievements—including five distinctions—show her dedication and potential as a future educator. Without financial support, she faced the risk of not graduating or continuing her work as a student teacher.
Understanding the vital role teachers play in shaping future generations, Hot 1027 and Hot Cares are proud to step in. We are thrilled to announce that we will cover Lara’s full tuition fees for 2025 and settle her outstanding loan. This support is more than just financial assistance; it’s an investment in the future of education in South Africa.
Lara’s story highlights the importance of investing in passionate educators. We believe her journey will inspire countless young learners and future teachers.
