Their international accreditation with Highfield Qualifications and the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH) in the UK, as well as the Chartered Institute of Tourism and Hospitality (ITH-SA), means their programmes are endorsed by industry leaders and are globally recognised.

Johan Oosthuizen, the Managing Principal of the Guvon Academy, broke this exciting news on Joburg’s Hottest Breakfast Show, announcing that applications for this stunning bursary are now open, with the final day to submit entries being the 31st of January.

The grand prize winner and recipient of this incredible bursary will be announced on HOT 102.7FM on the sixth of February 2023.

“This is an opportunity to change a life, just like Hot Cares and Guvon have done with Joshua, Farryn and Jezlyn, who was the recipient of the bursary in 2022 and got great work experience at the soccer World Cup in Qatar,” said Carmen Rocha, Managing Director of Hot Cares. “These young chefs all came down to the 2022 Teddython to update us on their progress and show support for this amazing opportunity when Guvon donated another bursary to Hot Cares.”

It’s a three-year programme, which will include workplace experience within the Guvon Hotels & Spas Group, as well as professional mentoring and development. This will allow the individual to experience a variety of aspects within a professional hospitality establishment.

According to Oosthuizen, once the recipient completes this qualification, integration into one of the Guvon Hotels as a permanent staff member is a real option and a ‘fast track’ into formal employment.
