Restoring sight, rebuilding lives: A gift of vision

At Hot Cares, we believe that everyone deserves the ability to fully engage with the world around them, and for Charleen van Dyk, that starts with the gift of hearing.

Charleen, a 26-year-old young woman with multiple special needs, has faced significant challenges throughout her life. Diagnosed at the age of three with severe hearing loss and a speech disability, she has always relied on hearing aids to communicate and navigate daily life. However, her current hearing aids have become obsolete and unserviceable, leaving her struggling to connect with those around her.

Her mother, Tracy, has worked tirelessly to provide for her daughter, despite the financial challenges of raising a child with special needs alongside two other children. She managed to save R12,000 toward new hearing aids, but the total cost far exceeded what she could afford. Without the financial means to bridge the gap, she reached out to Hot Cares, hoping for a miracle.

Thanks to the incredible support of One Insurance, Hot Cares is thrilled to share that we will be covering the remaining R25,000 needed to ensure Charleen gets the new set of hearing aids she so desperately requires.
