Hot Cares helps a brave little fighter breathe easier

Some stories stay with you long after you hear them — not because of the hardship they contain, but because of the courage they reveal. Lijáh-Dilano’s story is one of those.

From the moment he was born, Lijáh has been fighting battles no child should ever face. Complications at birth left him with multiple complex medical conditions — Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy, Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Hydrocephalus, epilepsy, and spastic diplegic cerebral palsy. Each diagnosis represents another obstacle, another layer of difficulty, another fight for survival. Yet through it all, this little boy has shown extraordinary resilience, meeting each day with strength far beyond his years.

Now, he faces another critical hurdle: a high-risk tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. For most children, this is a routine procedure. For Lijáh, it is vital — a surgery that will allow him to breathe safer, swallow easier, sleep without distress, and reduce the risk of further neurological damage. His medical team has made it clear: without this intervention, his health remains vulnerable.

But despite extensive medical motivations, the family’s medical aid has declined to cover the procedure. And with the cost escalating due to the high-risk nature of the surgery, the financial burden became overwhelming for a family already surviving on one income, as his mother Chandre now cares for him full-time.

Yet even under enormous strain, their love and determination have never faltered. Every therapy session, every appointment, every step forward exists because of their commitment to giving Lijáh the best life possible.
