HOT Cares and the Dis-Chem Foundation Provide Support to Elethu Cheshire Home

Here at Hot Cares, we’re big fans of the work undertaken by the good people at the Elethu Cheshire Home for the Disabled in Daveyton.

They provide 24/7 residential care for disabled people and currently have 18 beneficiaries living permanently at the home. That 24/7 care includes meals three times a day and snacks and fruit from time to time.

Further to that, all residents receive transportation to clinics, doctors or hospitals for whatever their medical care and chronic medication needs might be. There is also psychosocial support for the residents and community members in and around Daveyton. Residents are also provided with counselling and group work services to promote their social and emotional well-being.

But, the Elethu Cheshire Home for the Disabled doesn’t stop there.

There is also a life skills programme for the residents and arts and craft projects, with the ultimate goal to integrate them back into mainstream society or provide them with independent living and assisted-living units.

Elethu residents are also empowered and encouraged to get involved in the daily planning of all activities within the organisation.

So, a lot of fantastic work being done, but like a lot of similar organisations, the Elethu Cheshire Home relies on funding to remain sustainable and able to provide this service. In particular, wheelchairs are an issue for them, as many of the residents need them, and they are obviously a costly item.

So, here at Hot Cares, we want to help. As mentioned before, we have fantastic partners, with the Dis-Chem Foundation one of them, and once again they are coming to the party.

Hot Cares will be opening an instore Dis-Chem account for the Elethu Cheshire Home to the value of R5000 a month for 12 months, with a total value of R60 000! This account can be used for toiletries, wheelchairs and related equipment, cleaning supplies, and certain medical supplies.
