At just 24 years old, Pearl is already the embodiment of determination, integrity, and hope. A final-year Broadcast Journalism student at Boston Media House, Pearl’s journey has been anything but easy — yet she’s never allowed her circumstances to dim her purpose.

Following the tragic loss of her father to suicide, Pearl made a profoundly mature decision: to use her inheritance to fund her education. With a dream to be “the voice of the people who are voiceless,” she has remained fiercely committed to her studies — attending every lecture, earning top marks, and recently being named one of the Top 5 performers in Media Law.

Despite doing everything she could to stay the course — from applying for bursaries to seeking support from production houses — Pearl quietly carried the weight of her financial shortfall alone. “I eat when I get home — it’s okay,” she said softly, highlighting her willingness to sacrifice and persevere without complaint.

Her lecturer, Ryan van Rensburg, says it best: “Pearl is a phenomenal student who has not missed a single class. She’s the first to arrive, the last to leave, and always goes above and beyond. You can teach skills — but you can’t teach passion.”
