A life-changing gift for teacher Lwando
At Hot Cares, we believe in recognizing and uplifting individuals who dedicate their lives to making a difference. This week, we had the privilege of meeting Lwando —a teacher at Laerskool Roodebeeck whose story left us in awe.
Born visually impaired, Lwando faced a childhood filled with challenges, but he never let his condition define him. Through sheer perseverance, he overcame obstacles, excelled academically, and became an inspiration to his students.
Today, despite struggling to see beyond the first row of his classroom, he continues to pour his heart into teaching, proving that true dedication knows no barriers.
Every day, Lwando bends inches from his students’ work to mark their books, holds textbooks right up to his face to read, and relies on his keen sense of hearing to recognize all 160 of his Grade 2 learners. His determination is nothing short of remarkable, but we knew he deserved better.
That’s why Hot Cares is stepping in to give Lwando something he has never had: a proper eye specialist consultation, a full diagnosis, and prescription glasses tailored to his needs—valued at R50,000.
This gift isn’t just about improving his sight—it’s about giving him the tools to continue inspiring young minds without the daily struggle. It’s about ensuring he can keep doing what he loves for years to come.
Lwando, your resilience is extraordinary, and we are honored to be part of your journey. You’ve spent your life helping others—now it’s our turn to help you. Keep shining, keep teaching, and know that Hot Cares, along with your school community, is standing beside you.
