Daisy's second chance: A story of hope and healing
On Sunday, February 15th, Daisy was found in the most heartbreaking way—curled up in a tight ball on the side of a busy highway, too weak to move. The only reason she was spotted was a tiny flicker of movement—lifting her head just enough to be seen. When rescuers reached her, their hearts shattered.
She wasn’t alone. Beside her lay the skull of another pup who hadn’t made it. Daisy was barely clinging to life—emaciated, in pain, and suffering from what seemed to be a broken leg.
No one knows how long she had been out there, how much she had endured, or how she found herself in such a terrible place. But one thing was clear: she deserved a second chance.
Thanks to the incredible team at Bryanpark Veterinary Clinic, Daisy received urgent medical attention, including surgery to repair her injuries. Against all odds, she is now on the road to recovery. Her body is healing, her spirit is slowly returning, and for the first time in a long time, she is experiencing love and care.
But there are so many more like Daisy—alone, suffering, and waiting for a miracle. The road to recovery for animals like Daisy is long and costly. Beyond surgery, she needs ongoing nutritional support and therapy to rebuild her strength, regain her trust, and prepare for the loving home she so deserves.
At HOT 1027 and Hot Cares, we believe in changing lives—not just for people but for vulnerable animals who rely on us for a second chance. That’s why, with the support of One Insurance, we are stepping in to cover the cost of Daisy’s nutritional and therapy rehabilitation up to R20,000.
Daisy’s story is one of hope, resilience, and kindness. With your support, we can ensure that she—and others like her—never have to suffer again.
