Fuelling firefighters’ mission with life-saving equipment

At Hot Cares, we believe in recognising and supporting those who dedicate their lives to serving the community. That’s why, when we heard about the urgent need for a floating pump for the SCP Volunteer Fire, Search, and Rescue Unit, we knew we had to step in.

This remarkable team of volunteers operates without public funding, responding to fires, high-angle rescues, and emergencies with unwavering commitment. However, with ongoing water shedding and unreliable fire hydrants, accessing sufficient water to fight fires has become a growing challenge. Their fire engine carries 3,800 liters of water—enough for a brief response—but once that’s used, they must rely on municipal supplies, which are often inadequate.

A floating pump would change everything. This essential piece of equipment would allow the SCP team to draw water from alternative sources such as swimming pools, lakes, and rivers, ensuring they never run dry in the middle of an emergency. Without it, their ability to protect lives and property is severely compromised.

When Silverstar heard about the SCP unit’s plight, they immediately stepped up, partnering with Hot Cares to cover the full cost of the R39,000 floating pump. Thanks to this incredible donation, the SCP team will now have the resources they need to continue their life-saving work without interruption.

SCP Volunteer Fire, Search, and Rescue Unit, we see you. We appreciate you. And we are honored to stand with you as you selflessly protect our communities.

This is what Hot Cares is all about—helping those who help others, making a tangible difference, and ensuring that no one is left to face a crisis alone.
