From Forest Town to the corporate world: Samkelo’s inspiring journey

Sometimes, the strongest stories aren’t about grand victories, but about the quiet determination to keep moving forward, no matter the obstacles. That’s the story of Samkelo Ndlovu, a young Joburger who has never allowed his diagnosis of Dystonic Cerebral Palsy to define his future.

From his earliest days at Forest Town School, Samkelo stood out for his perseverance. When he later moved to Hope School, his journey became tougher, but his will to succeed only grew stronger. Supported by his devoted mother and a community of caring teachers, he pushed through every challenge—culminating in the proud moment, at the end of last year, when he completed his matric. For Samkelo, it wasn’t just a certificate; it was proof that hard work and faith in oneself can overcome even the steepest of hills.

Technology soon opened a new world to him. With the help of an adaptive Quha Zono Headmouse and an eye-gaze communication system, Samkelo discovered new independence: the ability to learn, communicate, and engage with the world in ways once thought impossible. That independence has now carried him to his next chapter—acceptance into the Systems Support NQF Level 5 Learnership, a programme that could lay the foundation for a long-term career in IT.

But stepping into this opportunity requires more than courage and commitment.
