Hot Cares and Silverstar cover vital therapy for Cory

Cory-Claire is turning four this month, and she’s already one of the bravest little fighters we’ve met. Living with KCNA-2 epilepsy and athetotic cerebral palsy, she works incredibly hard for every milestone—relying on weekly physiotherapy and occupational therapy to build strength, improve sensory regulation, and unlock more independence. But her medical aid only covers a handful of sessions each year, leaving a significant gap in care and cost for her family. Mom Samantha, a hairdresser, and dad, who works in automotive engineering, have done everything possible—half-day work, specialised schooling, even community fundraisers—to keep Cory’s therapy going. Still, the need is greater than the means. Medical recommendations call for 52 therapy sessions a year, costing up to R36,000—support that can be life-changing for a child like Cory. 

When we learned about Cory’s story, we shared it with our friends at Silverstar, who were deeply moved by this family’s resilience and determination. Together, we wanted to make sure consistency—so essential to Cory’s progress—doesn’t slip out of reach.

Thanks to Silverstar’s generous support, Cory’s therapy needs for the year will be covered—52 sessions, up to R36,000—ensuring she receives the specialised, ongoing care she needs to keep moving forward. And because progress continues at home, we’re also providing up to R4,000 in sensory-regulating and weight-bearing equipment to support her development between sessions.
