Hot Cares supports Warren Eva’s mission after historic Annapurna summit

When Warren Eva set out to climb one of the world’s deadliest peaks, he wasn’t just chasing a personal goal—he was climbing for a cause.

Hot Cares has been following Warren’s extraordinary journey from the very beginning. From the moment he packed his bag with 30 Snickers bars and a South African flag, to that breath-stealing moment he stood alone on the summit of Annapurna in Nepal—8,091 metres above sea level—he’s had the hearts of our listeners behind him.

Now back on home soil and in the HOT 102.7 studio, Warren spoke about the challenges he faced alongside his long-time climbing partner, John Black, and the brutal choices they had to make as the mountain shifted their plans. With only a narrow weather window and treacherous conditions ahead, John made the courageous decision to turn back—leaving Warren to take those final steps alone.

But Warren wasn’t just climbing for glory. He was also raising funds for Food for Hope, a South African charity that feeds malnourished children—proving that even from the harshest places on earth, hope can rise. Together, Warren and John raised over R80,000.

Inspired by their mission, Hot Cares is proud to add R102,700 to that total—thanks to the generosity of our listeners and the spirit of ubuntu that continues to define our community.
