Helping hands for Delron and his devoted mom

At Hot Cares, we’re constantly inspired by stories of resilience and unconditional love. One such story is that of Delron and his devoted mother, Lucricia. At 17 years old, Delron lives with cerebral palsy and several other complications that make daily life extraordinarily difficult. Since his birth, Lucricia has cared for him around the clock — bathing him, feeding him through a Mic-Key Peg, turning him, and meeting his every need without a moment’s rest.

Her dedication is nothing short of heroic. As Delron grows, so too do the physical demands of caring for him, especially for Lucricia, who battles arthritis and back pain. Despite their best efforts, the family is under immense strain — emotionally, physically, and financially.

To make matters even more challenging, Delron’s father recently suffered a heart attack and is juggling multiple jobs to keep the family afloat. The costs of Delron’s care — including the expensive Mic-Key Peg feeding tubes and daily supplies like nappies — are simply overwhelming.

Hot Cares was deeply moved by this family’s courage and determination. That’s why we are stepping in to assist. We’re donating an adjustable hospital bed, valued at up to R25,000, to ease the physical burden on Lucricia and provide Delron with better comfort. In addition, we’re purchasing two spare Mic-Key Pegs (valued up to R8,000) so the family is not left vulnerable if Delron damages the one he uses.
