Hope on the horizon for young burn survivor, Bafana

When tragedy struck 8-year-old Bafana, his family’s world was turned upside down. While his mother was preparing a bath, he accidentally stepped into a tub of boiling water — leaving him with severe burns to his foot and a long road to recovery.

Since that fateful day, Bafana’s mother has devoted every moment to his care. She now carries him to and from Cosmo City Junior Primary, walking long distances daily, as he is unable to walk. It’s taken an emotional and financial toll. She’s had to give up her work, and the family is now surviving on just one income — her husband’s earnings as a gardener.

Bafana still needs months of regular hospital visits, medication, and dressings. The cost of transport and medical supplies is simply beyond their means — all while trying to keep Bafana in school and keep their family afloat.

When Lisa Sink from the Boskruin community group brought this story to our attention, we knew we had to step in.

Hot Cares will be covering Bafana’s transport and medical costs for the next four months — ensuring he receives the critical care he needs and gets safely to school and hospital. We’ll also be providing monthly grocery vouchers to help relieve the pressure on this devoted family.
